The young caring for the old

About Us

Education

Matthews Center for Healthcare Education is committed to providing the highest quality of educational support for non-medical caregivers. Our Program promotes the practice of hands-on tasks supported by return-demonstration of competency. Each student is observed throughout the course of each class and is actively engaged through participation in lively group discussions and return demonstration.

Our courses follow the guidelines recommended by federal and professional association mandates for clinical content. The Illinois Department of Public Health Administrative code 245.70 mandates 8 hours of training initially and on an annual basis for all Home Services Workers, and also indicates the training topics to be followed. Students receive certificates of completion at the end of each course and are eligible to interview at any Illinois home health agency.

If you are interested in beginning a career in the health care field, Matthews Center for Healthcare Education is a very good place to start that journey.

“Where Excellence Comes Standard”

We at Matthews Center for Healthcare Education understand when the aging process makes life more difficult, turning to someone for help can feel like a loss of independence. At Matthews our caregivers are conscientious of these changes and are trained to safely aide and assist the senior, all the while promoting and enhancing independence. Our caregivers are mentored on methods to utilize as they pertain to documentation and communication with the seniors health care professionals and families. This communication provides a strong continuum of care in their own home.

Placement Services

We are also pleased to offer Placement Services for students completing our program. Each student choosing to participate is added to a database made available to participating area home health agencies seeking quality non-medical employees.

Home health agencies may participate in Placement Services. Each candidate referred through our services will have completed their initial training. By providing us with details of your specific need, we will be able to refer those candidates that are potentially the best fit.

Please call us at 847-551-3551 if you are interested in participation in the Placement Services program.
